Student Placement Spotlight: Kyle’s Exercise Physiology Journey at SAVVY

Hands-on Exercise Physiology experience in Wollongong with the SAVVY team

At SAVVY, we’re proud to support the next generation of Exercise Physiologists through our student placement program. By offering real-world learning opportunities, students can put theory into practice, gain hands-on clinical experience, and discover what makes SAVVY’s approach to care so unique.

Getting started at SAVVY

For University of Wollongong student Kyle, his placement at SAVVY was more than just a university requirement — it was a chance to grow as a future Exercise Physiologist and experience first-hand how client-centred care transforms lives.

Currently completing a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation, Kyle joined SAVVY in October 2025 under the supervision of SAVVY Exercise Physiologist, Kaitlin. From the very beginning, he found the placement welcoming and well organised, with clear communication and support throughout the onboarding process.

A diverse and supportive learning environment

During his placement, Kyle worked with clients of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. The variety of cases allowed him to apply his university learning to real-world scenarios, deepening his understanding of exercise prescription and rehabilitation in practice.

He quickly noticed the strong sense of teamwork within the clinic and how dedicated every clinician was to helping clients achieve their goals.

“The SAVVY difference is making it our goal and mission to help clients achieve theirs,” Kyle said. “I saw clinicians go above and beyond to make sure every client felt supported and valued.”

Guidance, growth and confidence

Kyle also valued the structured feedback and encouragement he received from his supervisor, which helped him build confidence and refine his clinical skills. The flexibility to explore different areas of interest and work with a diverse client base gave him a deeper appreciation of the role of an Exercise Physiologist.

He describes his time at SAVVY as an experience that shaped both his professional skills and personal outlook — one that confirmed his passion for helping others through movement and education.

Looking ahead

Kyle’s student placement experience at SAVVY left a lasting impression. It strengthened his confidence as a clinician, inspired a deeper commitment to evidence-based care, and gave him a clear vision for his career after graduation.

He says the supportive culture and opportunities for learning at SAVVY made it an ideal environment for students who want to make a real impact in people’s lives.
