Hands-On Experience in Physiotherapy with SAVVY
Ayden, a Masters of Physiotherapy student from the University of Technology Sydney, recently completed his five-week student placement at SAVVY under the guidance of mentor, SAVVY musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist Bridget. This experience offered Ayden valuable insights into the profession and allowed him to apply his knowledge in real-world settings.
Ayden’s time at SAVVY offered a comprehensive introduction to the diverse world of physiotherapy. From treating clients in the clinic and community to assisting aged care clients, Ayden gained exposure to a wide range of cases that expanded his understanding of the field. He learnt how tailored treatments could be provided to meet each client’s specific impairments and goals, which highlighted SAVVY’s commitment to client-centered care.
When asked what he believes defines “The SAVVY Difference,” Ayden shared that it’s the way the team integrates physiotherapy, exercise physiology, and group exercise classes under one roof to foster a healthy community. This holistic approach, combined with the kindness and support of the SAVVY team, helped Ayden feel welcomed and empowered throughout his placement.
A key highlight for Ayden was the opportunity to propose new treatment ideas for longstanding clients. Seeing clients enjoy these approaches and noticing the positive impact on their rehabilitation journeys was both rewarding and motivating. Additionally, Ayden appreciated being part of a team that not only supported him but encouraged him to grow and contribute meaningfully.
Reflecting on his placement, Ayden expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to learn and grow at SAVVY. The experience not only strengthened his confidence as a future Physiotherapist but also solidified his passion for helping others achieve better health outcomes.
