Maguire & McInerney SAVVY Survivor Season 27 Wrap Up

What an unforgettable three days!

SAVVY Survivor Season 27 was more than just a challenge—it was a powerful display of determination, teamwork, and community spirit. Thanks to your incredible participation and generosity, we’ve made a real impact, raising funds for University of Wollongong’s The Yerbury Lab MND Research Fund.

To our dedicated sponsors, teams, and participants—your efforts have not only supported vital research but also shone a light on the challenges faced by those living with Motor Neurone Disease.

Maguire & McInerney SAVVY Survivor is more than an event; it’s a movement. And together, we are making a difference.

Survivor Awards

Winning team

MMJ North Orange

Back-to-back champions! The Orange team came into Survivor 27 with one goal—defend their title—and they did just that. With the most participants, the most money raised, and an unstoppable drive, they proved once again why they’re a force to be reckoned with. They competed fiercely in every challenge, gave it their all, and showed that teamwork and determination make all the difference. A well-earned victory for the Orange team!

Ultimate Survivor

Steve Naylor from MMJ North Orange

Steve Naylor’s dedication, passion, and relentless drive earned him the title of ULTIMATE SURVIVOR. Months before Survivor, Steve can be found recruiting for the Orange team. He embodies everything that makes a true Survivor—giving his all in every challenge, leading with heart, and inspiring those around him.

Most Charitable Team

MMJ North Orange Team

Orange knew that being a Survivor meant more than just competing—it meant giving back. They dug deep, and raised money for University of Wollongong’s The Yerbury Lab MND Research Fund. From selling handmade bracelets to keeping everyone fuelled with drinks and bacon and egg rolls on Athletics Day, they left no stone unturned. Their relentless effort and commitment to the mission made them the most charitable team of the season.

Biggest Sponsor Spends

MMJ North Orange

Supporting their sponsors was part of the Survivor brief and MMJ North Orange were not afraid to spend some cash. These guys know that every dollar counts. Survivor is a unique event where we are able to heavily shine the light on every sponsor, ensuring we support those who support us.

Highest Recruiter

Libby Hall, Diggies Purple Team

Libby recognises that the competition starts at recruitment. Libby demonstrated great advocacy for the cause and the event. Libby’s energy and enthusiasm to make a positive difference in people’s lives is inspiring.

Highest Fundraiser

Graham Lancaster, MMJ North Orange Team

Graham’s generosity and spirit didn’t just make him the highest fundraiser—he was the heart behind this year’s cause. A dedicated SAVVY member and a pillar of positivity in Wollongong, Graham has always given back to his community. Following his recent Motor Neurone Disease (ALS) diagnosis, his story inspired us to choose our charity, making this year’s fundraising more meaningful than ever. Not only did he take on Survivor with determination, but he also led the way, raising over $1,200.

Captain of Captains

Katie Walsh, Diggies Purple Team

Katie’s energy is unstoppable, and her dedication to Team Purple is unmatched—her blood practically runs purple! As the ultimate leader, she not only recruited a powerhouse team but made sure every single member felt supported, motivated, and ready to give it their all. Whether it was rallying the troops, lifting spirits, or leading by example, Katie brought passion and heart to every moment of Survivor. Her ability to inspire, organise, and create an unbreakable team spirit made her the clear winner of the Captain of Captains award

Rookie Captain of the Season

Levana Wayne Boyle, MMJ North Orange Team

The Rookie Captain of the Season award goes to Levana, who stepped into the role for the first time and absolutely shined. From day one, she made sure her team was organised, motivated, and always running smoothly. A true pillar of support, Levana gave it her all—whether it was keeping the team on track, lifting spirits, or leading by example. Her dedication, positivity, and natural leadership made her an invaluable part of the Survivor experience. An incredible debut season for an incredible captain!
